HOT
[starttext]
The crowd went berserk at the first second he set foot on stage to deliver his performance.

He got the loudest cheer from the crowd during the grand finals of Pilipinas Got Talent which was held at the Araneta Coliseum Saturday night (June 12). And if the thunderous screams of his name translate to votes, there is no doubt, he will be the first winner of Pilipinas Got Talent.
I am talking about the 16-year-old siomai vendor from Batangas, Jovit Baldivino. He may not have a stunning face and body like model/singer Markki Stroem but his voice cuts through the soul. He also got the charisma that compelled the audience to shout his name at the mere second his feet stepped on the stage. And at the moment he opened his mouth to sing, he delivered goosebumps to everyone.
I witnessed this YouTube sensation perform “Too Much Love Will Kill You” by Queen live at the Big Dome and i must say, he’s the front runner for the title. His performance prompted Kris Aquino to say that he could be the next big superstar of ABS-CBN and I agree. My bet goes to this little guy, the possible winner of the P2 million cash prize.
The contestants whom I think could deliver an upset tomorrow at the results night are ventriloquist Ruther Urquia and hip hop dancing acrobats the Velasco Brothers. I am tempted to include Alakim (Allan dela Paz) as another front runner but there’s something I saw at the Araneta that the televiewers did not see. Nevertheless, he got a lot of fans and his previous magical performance during the semifinals was terrific and it could still earn him a lot of votes.
Those who stepped up their game are Markki Stroem who showed that he can also play the saxophone aside from singing and playing the piano (not to mention his terrific choice of song); Maria Jeline Oliva who also played the drums and piano aside from her usual violin, Ruther Urquia who also performed rap with his puppets; and Luntayao Family who ended the show with a bang.
Sherwin Baguion from Lanao del Norte also performed very well but the song he sang (Tayong Dalawa) was the same song he did during the auditions. I’m sorry but i’m not a fan of “recycled” performance but he’s good nonetheless. 14-year-old Keith Clark Delleva, on the other hand, added a little more singing than his usual electric guitar performance and I think he gained more fans to vote for him for that.
The Velasco Brothers may not have surpassed what they did during the auditions but their additional acrobats surely wowed the audience. Ezra Band, too, did not surpass their previous performance but they’re still good. Baguio Metamorphosis and Ingrid Payaket also delivered good-but-not-better-and-not-worst and to quote Randy Jackson of American Idol, “I’m not jumping up and down.” And i still think Imusicapella could have brought something different should they’ve been included in the grand finals.

Two acts from Baguio City completed the 12 Grand Finalists of Pilipinas Got Talent.
Baguio Metamorphosis, a male and female dance group got the highest votes, while, Ingrid Payaket – a 22-year-old broadway singer, was the judges’ choice as announced during the results show of the 6th and last batch in the Pilipinas Got Talent semi-finals .
Here are the poll results:
1. Baguio Metamorphosis – 28.78% (viewers’ choice)
2. Imusicapella Chamber Choir – 26.32%
3. Ingrid Payaket – 17.97% (judges’ choice)
4. Carl Malone Montecido – 15.94%
5. Hello World – 8.43%
6. Josephine Aton – 2.56%
2. Imusicapella Chamber Choir – 26.32%
3. Ingrid Payaket – 17.97% (judges’ choice)
4. Carl Malone Montecido – 15.94%
5. Hello World – 8.43%
6. Josephine Aton – 2.56%
It looks like the Imusicappella Chamber Choir has been another victim of Kris and Ai Ai’s favoritism. Too bad, it’s part of their job. There’s a huge 8.35% difference between the votes received by Imusicappella and Ingrid Payaket in favor of the chamber choir but the two female judges picked the musical singer from Baguio instead.
I rarely rant in my articles but i have to say that I am one of the thousands who voted for Imusicapella Chamber Choir and I am disappointed that the judges (particularly Kris and Ai Ai) were not able to see why this group received the second highest votes among the 6 acts. They pointed out that two of its female singers went sharp but I think that’s not enough to pull this “ensemble of talents” down. I’m sorry for the fans of Ingrid, I think she’s a good singer, but I’m more entertained with Imusicapella Chamber Choir who showcased more than one talent and we rarely see a show choir who sing acapella on Philippine television. The 26.32% who voted for them saw it too.
Anyway, here are the 12 Grand Finalists of Pilipinas Got Talent:
1. Jovit Baldivino, singer
2. Ruther Urquia and Titoy, ventriloquist
3. Markki Stroem, singer
4. Allan “Alakim” De Paz, magician
5. Ezra Band, acoustic band
6. Sherwin Baguion, singer
7. Keith Clark Delleva, electric guitarist
8. Velasco Brothers, hip hop dancers
9. Luntayao Family, singers
10. Maria Jeline Oliva, violinist
11. Baguio Metamorphosis, show dancers
12. Ingrid Payaket, broadway/classical singer
2. Ruther Urquia and Titoy, ventriloquist
3. Markki Stroem, singer
4. Allan “Alakim” De Paz, magician
5. Ezra Band, acoustic band
6. Sherwin Baguion, singer
7. Keith Clark Delleva, electric guitarist
8. Velasco Brothers, hip hop dancers
9. Luntayao Family, singers
10. Maria Jeline Oliva, violinist
11. Baguio Metamorphosis, show dancers
12. Ingrid Payaket, broadway/classical singer
The 12 grand finalists will compete against each other on Saturday, June 12, at the Araneta Coliseum during the live grand finals’ performance night of Pilipinas Got Talent. And this year’s winner will be announced on June 13, Sunday, during the live telecast results night which will also be held at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.

[starttext]Source: EZRA Band: Twitter Sensation, Makes it to PGT Finals on PGT @ Multiply
Musical group Ezra Band became a trending topic in Twitter Saturday night and it was no surprise that the band from Davao City topped the viewers' choice Sunday night to make it to the grand finals of the country's biggest nationwide talent-reality search "Pilipinas Got Talent."
With the entry of Ezra Band to the grand finals, "Pilipinas Got Talent" has found its first female grand finalist with the band's vocalist Kaye. The band's rendition of "Right Here Waiting" Saturday night earned the loudest cheers from the studio audience, who were also impressed with Nor’s talent in playing the piano despite having physical disability.
Balladeer Sherwin Baguion, who placed third (17.99%) in the text votes, but was chosen by the judges over opera singer Geraldine "Fame" Flores (25.05% votes) to join the band in the grand finals.
It was PGT judge Kris Aquino who broke the tie between Freddie "FMG" Garcia and Ai-Ai delas Alas. In giving her decision, Aquino said it is important for contestants to feel and understand the songs they sing."During the gap, I heard Billy and Luis still singing Sherwin’s song so it means his performance really has a recall to the audience,” said Aquino.
The two new grand finalists will compete with other grand finalists like Internet singing sensation Jovit Baldivino, ventriloquist Ruther Urquia, magician Allan “Alakim” De Paz, singer Markki Stroem, guitarist Keith Delleva, and the breakdancing Velasco Brothers.
This week, the fifth batch of semi-finalists namely Experience Kidz, Jayzan Tero, Harold Gesulga, Powerpuff Corn, Luntayao Family, and Jelline Oliva will battle it out to prove that they got the talent to make it to grand finals.
Don’t miss the 5th live semi-finals of “Pilipinas Got Talent” this Saturday (May 29), 7:15 PM, live at the Tanghalang Pasigueño (at the back of Pasig City Hall) and on Sunday (May 30), 8:15 PM, live at the Dolphy Theater on ABS-CBN. Studio 23 will be airing these episodes a week after every Saturday and Sunday, 6 PM to 7 PM. Watch to know the text syntax to use to vote for the next semi-finalists.
